It’s a question we get asked a lot. And the answer, honestly, is never just one thing.
It’s the stylist who remembers exactly how you take your coffee and what you talked about last time you were in. They spend an extra ten minutes getting your toner absolutely perfect because anything less won’t do. It’s the apprentice who stays late to help out. It’s also the senior stylist who mentors them. Furthermore, it’s the salon manager who holds the whole team together with quiet, steady brilliance.
At Headmasters, our people are everything. They always have been. Everything we do as a company – the training we invest in, the culture we build, the standards we hold ourselves to – starts and ends with them.

We’ve been part of communities across London and the South East for decades. In that time we’ve learned something important: the salons that people keep coming back to aren’t just the ones with the best technical skills (though we take enormous pride in those). Instead, they’re the ones where you feel genuinely looked after. They are where the team clearly love what they do. Nothing ever feels like it’s just going through the motions.
That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because of the values that run through everything we do.
Honesty
We believe in saying what we mean and meaning what we say – with clients, with each other, and with ourselves. That means honest consultations, transparent conversations about what’s achievable, and constructive feedback that helps our people grow. It also means building trust, one appointment at a time.

Ambition
We never want to stand still. The hair industry moves fast – techniques evolve, trends shift, new products and technologies change what’s possible – and we think that’s exciting. Our team are encouraged to keep learning, keep developing and keep raising the bar. This is because we genuinely believe that the best is always still ahead of us.
Innovation
Creativity is at the heart of what we do. Whether that’s a colourist who pushes the boundaries of a balayage technique, an educator who develops a training programme that changes the way stylists work, or a salon that finds a better way to look after its clients – we celebrate new thinking and we make space for it to flourish.

Respect
For our clients, our colleagues, and the craft itself. Respect is the thing that makes everything else possible – it’s what creates the kind of environment where people feel safe to try new things. This environment is where clients feel genuinely valued. Teams pull together even on the busiest of Saturdays. We treat every person, every decision and every detail with care, because we know that the small things are rarely small.
Put all of that together and you start to understand what Headmasters actually is. It’s not just a collection of salons, but a community of people who care deeply about their craft, their clients and each other. It’s a place where careers are built and talent is nurtured. Here, ambition is encouraged and hard work is recognised. Moreover, you’re not just showing up to do a job – you’re part of something.
If that sounds like somewhere you’d want to be, we’d love to hear from you. Take a look at our current opportunities and join the Headmasters family.
