The Clients Who Keep Coming Back
The truest measure of any salon is its clients – and the stories from Reading speak for themselves.
Shadana has been coming to Headmasters for 15 years – and in that time, she’s never once had to worry about what she’s going to get. She travels a significant distance to be here, and it’s easy to understand why. “She’s really welcoming,” she says of her stylist Ola. “Everyone knows who you are. You don’t need to worry. She gives her opinion and I trust her – I’ve never been disappointed.” The two of them see each other outside of the salon too, meeting for coffee. That’s not a client relationship. That’s a friendship.
Anna has been a client for three years and travels in specifically for the salon. “Everyone’s really friendly,” she says. “The consistency and the quality of service is what keeps me coming back.” And Susan, who has been coming for four to five years, echoes the same feeling – “lovely and friendly, my stylist does a great job” – the kind of quiet, steady loyalty that a great salon earns over time.
Alison has been coming for 16 years – ten of those with Ola. “She’s like family,” she says simply. “She’s generous, she’s amazing, and she’s not allowed to go anywhere! We go for coffee, for food. I wouldn’t go to anyone else. She’s always amazing – and always consistent.” Consistent is a word that comes up again and again when clients talk about this salon, and we think its the highest compliment you can give. Knowing that every single visit is going to be excellent is what keeps people coming back for years.
The Team Behind the Salon
When you walk into Headmasters Reading, you can feel immediately that they are a team who genuinely love being there. Although the passion for the craft runs deep, it is also because of the people they work alongside everyday.
The staff room in the salon is covered with compliments the stylists have written about one another, a true testament to the kindness, encouragement, and genuine admiration the team have for one another.
When asked what it is like working at Reading, the team talked about inspiring each other, saying “I want to be more like you”. There is nothing better than a team who learn from each other and always encourage one another.
They talked about clients who have become friends and appointments that feel more like catch-ups. Several spoke about starting as apprentices and growing into confident, skilled stylists – shaped by the mentorship and support of those around them. And almost everyone said the same thing, in their own way: it’s not just what you do, it’s who you do it with.
That kind of environment doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built over years by people who care – about their craft, about their clients and about each other. And at Headmasters Reading, it shows in everything.

Twenty years is a milestone worth every bit of the celebration – but it’s also just the beginning of the next chapter. The Reading team are as passionate, dedicated and warm as ever, and the clients who have been with them for years show no signs of going anywhere.
