Celebrating Talent & Diversity at Headmasters

Art Team

Textured hair education is an essential part of modern hairdressing, and at Headmasters, we strongly believe in celebrating both talent and diversity. Every stylist should feel confident working with all hair types and textures.

Meet Daniella

This year, one of our incredible Headmasters Art Team stylists Daniella Fowler has been dedicated to expanding her expertise, particularly in textured hair.

Her passion for developing inclusive skills and deepening her understanding of diverse hair types consequently led her to join The Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Project Afro, where she was proudly named a Student of the Year semi-finalist at this year’s finale event!

Based at our Wimbledon Broadway salon, Daniella continues to inspire with her passion for education, inclusivity and creativity.

Daniella shared that her motivation for joining the programme came from a desire to ensure that all clients feel represented and confident in the salon chair:

“I wanted to take part in Project Afro as it’s really important, as hairdressers, that we can accommodate everyone’s hair textures. We aim to make clients feel confident with drying, styling, and loving their hair, without it feeling like a chore.”

Her fascination with texture has always been a driving force in her work:

I’ve always been in awe of textured hair, and I think curly girls are really lucky to have such a beautiful head of hair.

Inspiration

Throughout the course, Daniella explored the evolution of textured hair across history. She used this as the inspiration behind her final creative look.

“When starting the course, we looked at hair from 100 years ago up to the present day. The theme throughout the year was based around that. My final look was inspired by hair from the past, reimagined in a modern, wearable way. As my skills improved, I evolved the style each time to make it different and reflect what I’d learned.”

For Daniella, the experience was not just about styling techniques but about understanding heritage and communication.

I think it’s really important to learn these skills and about other cultures – yes, it’s about the hair, but knowledge is power, and being able to explain that in the right way matters.

At Headmasters, we’re passionate about celebrating stylists like Daniella who combine technical excellence with cultural awareness and creative curiosity. Her work reflects our commitment to inclusive hairdressing and ongoing education. These values, along with artistic innovation, continue to shape the next generation of hairstylists.

Congratulations Daniella on this incredible achievement – we can’t wait to see what you create next!
