Who will be doing my hair?

Stylists who work on you can be at varying levels of experience - from apprentices developing their foundational skills to fully qualified professionals refining advanced techniques, to award-winning stylists at the top of their game. Whatever the course, every single person working on you will be under constant supervision from our Art Team and Education Team throughout your entire appointment. No work is completed without being checked and approved by a senior team member, so you can relax knowing you're looked after every step of the way.

Will my hair look good when I leave?

Absolutely - this is something we feel really strongly about. Your cut and colour will be checked and perfected before you leave. We never let a model walk out the door unless we're completely happy with the result. The whole point of our courses is to raise the standard of our work, and that means your finish matters just as much as the learning process.

How long will my appointment take?

Please allow up to three hours for a cut and finish, and up to four hours for a colour service and finish. Additional time may be needed depending on your hair length and the specific service.

Do I need a patch test before a colour service?

Yes - if you haven't had a colour service in the last six months, or if this is your first time with us, we'll ask you to complete an allergy test 48 hours before your appointment. We'll always let you know in advance if this applies to you.

Can I request a specific style or colour?

When you fill in our model questionnaire, you'll be asked about your hair type, history and what services you're happy to be considered for - so that's the perfect place to let us know whether you're open to colour, a cut, or both. We'll always match you to a course that suits what you've told us, but the actual look will be up to you and agreed when you arrive for your appointment!

What if I need to cancel?

We completely understand that things come up - we ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange, so we have time to find a replacement model for the course.

Is it suitable for all hair types?

Yes - we actively welcome models with all hair types, textures, lengths and colour histories. The more diverse our model database, the better the training experience for our stylists. Whether your hair is fine and straight, thick and curly, natural, coloured or chemically treated, we'd love to hear from you.

At Headmasters, we’re always on the lookout for a diverse range of models to support our training and education programme – across our London Academy, our salons and beyond. Whether you’re sitting with a stylist developing their skills or being used as a demonstration model for one of our senior educators, every experience is supervised, considered and finished to our exacting standards.

There are several different ways to get involved – read on to find the right fit for you.

How it Works

Our Academy is where Headmasters stylists come to develop and refine their skills – from precision cutting techniques to advanced colour work. As an Academy model, you’ll have your hair cut and/or coloured as part of a supervised session, with all work overseen by our Art and Education Teams throughout.

When you join our database, we’ll match you to the right opportunity based on the information you provide in your questionnaire. You could find yourself sitting with an apprentice working on their cutting foundations, a senior stylist perfecting an advanced colour technique, or a Creative Ambassador demonstrating a look to a group of stylists. When we get in touch to offer you an appointment, we will confirm what is on offer and let you know exactly what’s involved, so there are no surprises on the day.

Whatever the session, every single appointment is supervised from start to finish – and we will never let you leave unless we are completely happy with the result. Your hair is always in safe hands.
