At Headmasters, we believe that celebrating our stylists is one of the most important things we can do. Celebrating the Women of Headmasters is at the heart of what we do. Our salons are built on talent, passion, and creativity. The women at the heart of our business are a huge part of what makes Headmasters what it is. For International Women’s Day this year, we asked our salons to nominate the women who inspire them. These are the colleagues who make the magic happen behind the chair every single day. This reminds us exactly why we love this industry so much.
At Headmasters, we’re proud to be part of a community that is shaped, inspired, and driven forward by women. We think that deserves a lot more than one day of recognition.
There’s something powerful about being seen. Whether you’re a senior stylist with decades of experience or someone who’s just found their footing in the salon, knowing that your colleagues and your company recognise what you bring to the table makes a real difference.
This series started as a way to mark International Women’s Day – what we found was something much bigger. The stories that came back to us from our salons were full of warmth, admiration, and genuine pride. As a result, colleagues celebrated colleagues. Our salons praised the women who make their teams what they are. It was, quite simply, lovely.
Below comes directly from our salons about the women they nominated. These are their words, their stories, and their moments of recognition.

Here are some of the amazing ladies who work at Headmasters East Sheen. “These incredible women bring energy, smiles and joy every day, delivering amazing hair and always inspiring one another. Working with a supportive team who always have your best interests at heart is what makes our team so special.”
“Gill has worked as a Receptionist at Headmasters Weybridge for almost 40 years. During that time she has been the friendly face that welcomes clients through the door. Her efficiency, knowledge and professionalism are second to none.
What makes Gill especially remarkable, though, is the way she treats people. She is endlessly kind, patient and supportive, whether helping a client who needs guidance or offering encouragement to a colleague. Her dedication and pride in her work set a quiet but powerful example to everyone around her.”

“Ella from Headmasters Epsom, is one of our amazing team members who is aspiring to become a salon manager. Her dedication, passion, and determination to grow as a leader truly stands out. Watching Ella take on challenges, support her colleagues, and continuously push herself to develop is exactly the kind of ambition we love to see at Headmasters. The future of leadership in our industry is bright, and it’s powered by strong, empowered women like her.”
“Katie from Headmasters Earlsfield is one of the most hard working and reliable stylists we have. She takes the time to truly connect with her clients, knowing their stories and making each person feel welcomed, valued, and cared for every time they sit in her chair.
Katie is not only a valued member of the team, but someone who understands the local community and plays an important role in helping shape what’s best for the salon. Even when faced with challenges, she continues to greet every client with a warm smile and deliver first-class service.”

“Rachael first joined Headmasters as a 15-year-old salon assistant, and over the course of more than 20 years, she has grown into a highly skilled stylist and L’Oréal Colour Specialist.
As a salon manager, Rachael is committed to developing and supporting her team, helping them achieve their personal goals while also educating new starters across the company to set them up for success. Furthermore, she takes on new challenges every day to ensure both she and her team continue to grow and thrive.”
One of the things that makes hairdressing unlike almost any other industry is the sense of community. The salon floor is a place of real human connection – between stylist and client, yes, but also between colleagues who support each other through busy days, creative challenges, and everything in-between.
The women in our salons don’t just do hair. They build relationships, nurture talent, mentor the next generation, and create environments where clients feel genuinely looked after. That’s not a small thing. That’s everything.
