Every Stylist Is Fully Qualified – Full Stop
Before we get into the levels, the most important thing to know is this: every single stylist on the Headmasters salon floor is fully qualified and completely equipped to deliver beautiful, confidence-boosting results. Furthermore, booking with a Stylist is never a compromise on quality.
Every Headmasters stylist also completes our REVEALED programme on joining the business. This is an intensive two-week course designed to refine core techniques, consultation skills and client experience to our exact brand standard. As a result, wherever you start on the level ladder, you’re in highly trained, professional hands.

How Our Levels Work
Our stylists are promoted through a 9-level system – Stylist, Senior Stylist, Designer, Master Hair Designer, Team Designer, Consultant, Senior Consultant, Master Hair Consultant and Team Consultant. Meanwhile, our colourists work through a 4-level system: Technician, Senior Technician, Technical Consultant and L’Oréal Colour Specialist.
Every promotion through these levels is earned – never given. And the framework behind that progression is what we call the RED Method.

Reputation – Proven Consistency
A higher-level stylist has a track record of excellence built over years of work on the salon floor. By the time a stylist reaches the upper levels, they’ve successfully transformed thousands of clients. This includes handling complex hair types, colour corrections and high-pressure transformations with consistently flawless results. Their reputation isn’t self-declared. Instead, it’s proven, appointment by appointment.
Education – Elite Technical Mastery
Education is at the heart of everything we do at Headmasters. While every team member is salon-ready from day one, our higher-level stylists have completed advanced colour and styling modules at the Headmasters London Academy. In fact, they go far beyond the foundations to master the most intricate, specialist techniques.
For stylists, that means precision cutting and catwalk-inspired finishing at the highest level. For colourists, our top tier – the L’Oréal Colour Specialist – holds the highest qualification available in the industry. These are specialists who understand the deep chemistry of colour. As a result, they ensure your hair stays healthy and strong while achieving even the most ambitious shades.
Demand – The Most-Wanted
Demand is the ultimate social proof. Our most senior team members are typically our most requested stylists. Frequently, they work on editorial shoots, fashion campaigns and industry events, or mentor the next generation of Headmasters talent at the Academy.
