The Headmasters Colour Innovation Heroes Finals 2025 took place at the L’Oréal Academy on 11th July – and what an inspiring showcase it was! This annual competition is all about pushing boundaries in hair colour and celebrating the creativity and technical excellence of our talented stylists and apprentices across our salons.
This year the brief was to create a modern, wearable and trend-led colour looks. Judges were looking for exceptional colour technique and placement, beautifully complemented by a precise cut & blow-dry with the ultimate professional polished finish. Stylists were encouraged to take inspiration from emerging trends and translate them into innovative, salon-friendly looks using any L’Oréal Professionnel hair colour, on any length or texture of hair all of the time respecting and improving the condition, shine and gloss of the hair.
From across our salons, finalists brought fresh, bold ideas to life, demonstrating true colour artistry. With tools in hand and visions in mind, they stepped out of their comfort zone and rose to the challenge, even with the pressure of the countdown clock!
Beyond the colour work, the experience also included a professional photoshoot where finalists directed the shoot themselves, under the guidance of the Headmasters Creative Ambassadors, giving them a brilliant opportunity to elevate their portfolios and showcase their creative vision in an editorial setting.
Along with our stylists the Apprentice category demonstrated the outstanding talent amongst the youngest members of the Headmasters’ team. The looks created by our future stars showed exceptional skill, imagination and promise.

Our winners now progress to the prestigious Headmasters Photographic Awards, where they’ll compete for the ultimate recognition. One standout will be awarded Colour Innovation Image of the Year in the Stylist category, while one rising talent from the Apprentice category will receive the Christine Sanders Future Star Award. We can’t wait to see what they create next!
